§ 54.14  TRAPS.
   (A)   Discharges requiring a trap include:
      (1)   Grease or waste containing grease in amounts that will impede or stop the flow in the public sewers;
      (2)   Oil;
      (3)   Sand;
      (4)   Flammable wastes; and
      (5)   Other harmful ingredients.
   (B)   Any person responsible for discharges requiring a trap shall, at his or her own expense and as required by the city:
      (1)   Provide equipment and facilities of a type and capacity approved by the city;
      (2)   Locate the trap in a manner that provides ready and easy accessibility for cleaning and inspection; and
      (3)   Maintain the trap in effective operating condition.
   (C)   Grease and oil traps shall be constructed of impervious materials capable of withstanding abrupt and extreme changes in temperature. They shall be of substantial construction, water-tight and equipped with easily removable covers which, when bolted in place, shall be gas-tight and water-tight. All traps shall be maintained by the user, at his or her expense, in continuously efficient operation at all times. The requirements of the Plumbing Code, where applicable, shall govern the installation and maintenance of traps.
