Trees shall be planted on both sides of every street containing city sidewalks. Such trees shall be planted within the right-of-way area at intervals of no more than 50 feet, and each separate lot shall contain at least one tree. Any lot that abuts more than one street with city sidewalks shall have at least one tree located in each separate street right-of-way, and such trees shall be spaced at intervals of not more than 50 feet. The owner or builder shall deposit with the Director of Finance the sum of $230 for each tree required to be planted in accordance with this section. The funds so deposited shall be used by the city for the purchasing and planting of the trees so that the size, species and location will be in accordance with the city’s Tree Planting Program.
