§ 1072.02 PRIVATE CONTRACTORS.
   (a)   The Director of City Services shall employ private snow removal contractors to perform the services set forth in § 1072.01.
   (b)   The Director of City Services shall obtain such private snow removal contractors after ascertaining, by means of an informal bid, the cost of removal to be charged by individual contractors, and shall make arrangements and contracts with such contractors in advance of each winter season, to be assured of their availability on an on-call basis during the ensuing winter months, upon such terms and specifications as he or she shall prepare. The Director of City Services is hereby authorized to prepare such rules and regulations consistent with this chapter to govern the activities of the private snow removal contractors.
   (c)   Payment for such private contracting services shall be made by the Director of Finance from funds appropriated for such purpose, which appropriation is hereby authorized.
   (d)   Upon entering into a contract with the city, a contractor shall provide a bond in an amount to be determined by the Director of Law and shall furnish the city with a certificate of insurance naming the city as an additional insured.
