Within the meaning of this chapter, a
TAXICAB shall include any motor-driven vehicle engaged in the business of carrying passengers for hire or fare, or offered for hire or fare to the public for transportation within the city, except buses operated on regular schedules and regularly established routes, and except vehicles used exclusively for service at weddings, funerals or ambulance work.
