Upon full service retirement of 25 years or more with the City Police Department, each police officer shall be permitted to retain one service pistol in inoperable condition for his or her own personal use. The pistol shall be designated by the Police Chief. The officer shall register the serial number of the pistol with the Police Chief who shall maintain a list of such serial numbers.
