§ 90.04   FARM ANIMALS. 
   (A)   Farm animals shall only be kept in an agricultural district of the city, or on a residential lot of at least 10 acres provided that no animal shelter shall be within 300 feet of an adjoining piece of property. 
   (B)   An exception shall be made to this section for those animals brought into the city as part of an operating zoo, veterinarian clinic, scientific research laboratory, or a licensed show or exhibition.
   (C)   An exception shall be made to this section for chickens kept in the city in accordance with the following provisions:
      (1)   No person shall keep more than a total of 5 chickens per recorded lot in any zoning district outside the agricultural zone. Roosters are not allowed within city limits;
      (2)   No chicken coop, run or other structure where chickens are kept shall be maintained closer than 35 feet from any residence, other than the residence occupied by the owner or occupant of the premises upon which such chickens are kept; and
      (3)   Persons wishing to keep chickens shall submit a keeping of chickens permit application, which shall be submitted annually to City Hall.
