10-4-3: PERFORMING MECHANICAL WORK:
   A.   Permit Required:
      1.   It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to proceed with any mechanical work within the city until a permit for such work has been obtained from the mechanical inspector.
      2.   Applicants for the permit described herein shall, prior to proceeding with any work requiring such permit, call the office of the mechanical inspector and give the name of the mechanical contractor who is to do such work and the address where the work is to be performed. The contractor shall be furnished one copy of the permit. (1991 Code § 4-114)
   B.   Submission Of Plans:
      1.   No plans shall be approved nor shall any work or repairs be made which are not consistent with the standards and requirements of the international mechanical code. The mechanical inspector may require the submission and approval of plans and specifications in duplicate showing the nature and extent of the proposed work before a permit is issued. If, in the course of the work, it is found necessary to make any change from the approved plans and specifications on which a permit has been issued, amended plans and specifications shall be submitted and, if approved, a supplementary permit shall be issued to cover the change after the same conditions required to secure the original permit have been satisfied.
      2.   All plans and specifications required to be submitted shall be examined by the inspector for conformance with the provisions of this chapter and the international mechanical code.
      3.   Nothing in this subsection shall be construed to prevent the issuance of a permit for the installation of part of a mechanical system before the entire plans and specifications of the system have been submitted or approved, if adequate information and detailed statements have been presented for the same and have been found to comply with this chapter and the international mechanical code. (1991 Code § 4-115; amd. 2011 Code)
   C.   Inspection: It shall be the duty of any person, firm or corporation doing any mechanical work and who has obtained a mechanical permit to report the same for rough-in inspection as soon as such work is ready for inspection, and when the work is ready for final inspection. (1991 Code § 4-118)
   D.   Alteration After Inspection: It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to alter or change any mechanical system or fixture or to remove any material or fixture after inspection has been made without first obtaining a permit from the mechanical inspector to do so. (1991 Code § 4-122)
