A. Impoundment: Any animal running at large within the corporate limits of the city may, in the discretion of the animal control officer, be impounded.
B. Notify Owner: When such animal is impounded, the animal control officer shall make every reasonable effort to notify the owner or keeper of such animal of the impoundment.
C. Reclamation Fee: When such an animal is impounded, the owner of such animal or any other person claiming this animal shall not be entitled to the same until payment is made to the city in the sum of forty five dollars ($45.00), which is hereby declared to be a reasonable charge for catching and impounding such an animal.
D. Destruction Of Unclaimed Animal: Any animal impounded as provided in this chapter, and not reclaimed by its owner within seventy two (72) hours, may be destroyed five (5) days after the same has been impounded. (1991 Code § 3-22)
