A. Injuring Or Poisoning Animals:
1. No person who accidentally or otherwise strikes an animal with any vehicle and seriously injures or renders it unable to move freely shall leave the scene without calling the police or animal control officer and informing them of the incident.
2. No person shall wilfully or negligently poison any animal. (1991 Code § 3-6)
B. Noisy Animals: No person shall keep any animal which causes frequent or long continued noise so as to disturb the comfort or repose of any person in the vicinity. Any violation of this subsection is declared to be a nuisance. (1991 Code § 3-10)
C. Hunting: No person shall hunt or discharge any firearm within the city limits, nor shall any person hunt upon or around any lake, lagoon or upon any land owned, leased or operated by the city. (1991 Code § 3-11)
D. Killing Prairie Dogs: No person shall kill, ensnare, trap, chase or attempt to kill prairie dogs in or upon any city property; provided, that this subsection shall not apply to employees of the city acting in their official capacities. (1991 Code § 3-12)
E. Fighting Animals Prohibited: No person shall keep, nor shall any permit be issued for any gamecocks, fighting cocks, or swine, pit bull or any dog bred for the specific purpose of fighting. (1991 Code § 3-13)
F. Prohibiting The Sale Or Transaction Of Dogs, Cats, Domestic Birds, Fowl, Or Any Other Animals In Public Places: It shall be unlawful for any person to display, give away or offer to give away, sell, barter, trade, or lease, any dog, cat, domestic bird, fowl, or any other animals on any public right-of-way, public park, public or government owned property, commercial parking lot, or at any flea market or festival; provided, however, that this section shall not apply to any nonprofit organization founded for the purpose of providing humane sanctuary or shelter for abandoned or unwanted animals, having first obtained the written approval of the City Manager.(1991 Code § 3-13; amd.
