A. Judges Of Court: The judges of the municipal court shall be styled municipal judges. (1993 Code § 2.16.020)
B. Number Of Judges: The town shall have one municipal judge and one alternate municipal judge. (1993 Code § 2.16.030)
C. Appointment: The municipal judge and alternate shall be appointed by the mayor, with the consent of the council. (1993 Code § 2.16.040)
D. Qualifications And Salary:
1. The municipal judge and alternate municipal judge shall be qualified electors of the state and high school graduates or the equivalent thereof.
2. The municipal judge shall receive a salary as determined annually by the council. Alternate municipal judge shall be paid as determined by the council. (1993 Code § 2.16.050)
E. Term Of Office: The term of the office of the municipal judge and alternate municipal judge shall be the same as that of other appointed officers of the town, unless previously removed for cause as provided by law. (1993 Code § 2.16.060)
F. Bond Of Office: The municipal judge and alternate municipal judge shall give a bond to the town in the amount of ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00), conditioned for the performance of all his duties in accordance with law and the ordinances of the town, and that he will turn over to the parties entitled thereto, or as may be prescribed by the ordinances of the town, all monies collected by virtue of his office of municipal judge. (1993 Code § 2.16.070)
G. Preparation Of Bond Schedule:
1. The municipal judge shall have authority to prepare a bond schedule for any and all violations of this code. The municipal judge shall also have authority to amend the bond schedule from time to time. The bond schedule prepared by the municipal judge, as well as any amendments to the bond schedule, shall be subject to the review and approval of the governing body of the town.
2. Copies of the current bond schedule shall be maintained at all times in the office of the town clerk-treasurer. (1993 Code § 2.16.080)
