7-5-4: OPERATION AND EQUIPMENT:
   A.   Laws Governing Operation, Generally:
      1.   Every operator of snowmobiles shall observe all ordinances of the town and laws of the state pertaining to operation of vehicles; and, in addition, shall yield the right of way to motor vehicles.
      2.   No snowmobile shall be operated within the town prior to thirty (30) minutes before sunrise or after thirty (30) minutes after sunset.
   B.   Operation Over Town Roadways:
      1.   Generally: Snowmobiles may operate over town roadways (except as noted in subsection B2 of this section) when the same shall be snow covered or snow packed only. Snowmobiles shall not be permitted to operate on the sidewalks or in town parks.
      2.   Additional Restrictions: Snowmobiles may be operated upon streets which are state highways within the town limits only under the following additional restrictions:
         a.   Snowmobiles may be operated within the right of way, but not on the main traveled roadway except as provided hereafter.
         b.   Crossings of state highways shall be made at right angles to the roadway or as nearly so as practicable; but in any case, yielding the right of way to all traffic in the main traveled roadway.
         c.   Snowmobiles may be operated on the main traveled highway when the highway is closed to wheeled vehicular traffic.
   C.   Equipment And Weight:
      1.   Damaging Roadway, Weight Limit: No snowmobile shall be operated within the incorporated limits of the town which are propeller driven, having racks capable of damaging road surfaces, or the gross weight thereof exceeds one thousand seven hundred fifty (1,750) pounds.
      2.   Muffler: Every snowmobile shall be at all times equipped with a muffler in good working order and in constant operation to prevent excessive or unusual noise and annoying smoke.
      3.   Brakes: Every snowmobile shall be equipped with brakes adequate to control the movement of and to stop and hold such vehicle.
   D.   Driving In Unsafe Condition: It is a misdemeanor for any person to drive or move, or for the owner to cause or knowingly permit to be driven or moved, on any roadway any snowmobile or combination of vehicles which is in such unsafe condition as to endanger any persons or property, or which does not contain those parts or is not at all times equipped with such equipment in proper condition and adjustment as required by this chapter, or which is equipped in any manner in violation hereof.
