The applicant shall file with the City Manager a bond in favor of the city in a sum not less than $2,500. These bonds shall be executed by a surety company authorized to do business in the state or by two or more sureties. The bond shall be approved by the City Manager as to the efficiency and by the City Solicitor as to form. The condition of the bond shall be that the applicant will indemnify and save harmless the city from all loss and damage which may be occasioned in any way by accident or the want of care or skill on his part, in the prosecution of the work of making sewer connections, or that may be occasioned by reason of any surface or subsurface opening or openings made or caused to be made by him in connection with that work.
