131.16   VACATIONS.
   (a)   Each regular full-time employee shall accrue vacation with pay in accordance with the schedule set forth below, except that the maximum accumulation for any employee shall be twice the amount of vacation available to the employee in that year. For the purposes of this section, “service” shall mean service by a full-time employee with the City or prior service with the federal government, including the military or any other political subdivision of any state within the United States.

   (b)   At the time of separation from service, an employee shall be entitled to vacation pay for any accrued vacation leave for which they are entitled providing the employee has given the City a two week notice of the resignation; however, the City Manager (upon the request of the Department Head) may waive the two week notice.
   (c)   Except as provided in subsection (b) hereof, an employee shall not have the option of converting vacation to cash.
   (d)   Regular part-time employees shall be entitled to vacation leave on a pro-rated basis, from the table above, according to the average number of hours per week that they work.
   (e)   Any Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chiefs, the Deputy Fire Chief, Police Chief and Police Captains who have twenty-two (22) years of service or more with the City who were hired or promoted prior to January 1, 2023, may accumulate three (3) times the amount of vacation available to the employee in that year.
