When an employee requests to be demoted, bumps (due to staff reductions), or is demoted due to discipline to a lower classification, the salary of the demoted employee shall be reduced to bring the rate within the range established for the class to which the employee is demoted. If a position is reclassified to a lower salary range, the affected employee salary will be frozen until the employee’s salary is lower than the maximum pay for the salary range.
