1-5-1: COMPENSATION:
   A.   Village President: The Village President shall receive as total compensation the sum of one thousand three hundred dollars ($1,300.00) per month. This amount shall include all compensation for the Village President including the roles of Liquor Commissioner and Tobacco Commissioner. No other compensation shall be paid.
The President is allowed to be absent for two (2) meetings during each year for which compensation may be paid. The President may be absent for more than two (2) meetings per year and may be compensated if the President can show due cause for such additional absences, such as illness of the President, serious illness of the President's immediate family, a death in the President's immediate family or other like cause. For absences in excess of the aforementioned, the President forfeits thirty percent (30%) of the compensation for the month each time such an absence occurs.
   B.   Village Trustee: Each Village Trustee shall receive the sum of six hundred fifty dollars ($650.00) per month as total compensation. No additional compensation shall be paid.
Each Trustee is allowed to be absent for two (2) meetings during each year for which compensation may be paid. Each Trustee may be absent for more than two (2) meetings per year and may be compensated if the Trustee can show due cause for such additional absences, such as illness of the Trustee, serious illness of the Trustee's immediate family, a death in the Trustee's immediate family or other like cause. For absences in excess of the aforementioned, the Trustee forfeits thirty percent (30%) of the compensation for the month each time such an absence occurs.
   C.   Village Clerk: The Village Clerk shall receive five hundred fifty dollars ($550.00) per month as total compensation. No additional compensation shall be paid.
The Village Clerk is allowed to be absent for two (2) meetings during each year for which compensation may be paid. The Village Clerk may be absent for more than two (2) meetings per year and may be compensated if the Village Clerk can show due cause for such additional absences, such as illness of the Village Clerk, serious illness of the Village Clerk's immediate family, a death in the Village Clerk's immediate family or other like cause. For absences in excess of the aforementioned, the Village Clerk forfeits thirty percent (30%) of the compensation for the month each time such an absence occurs.
Should the Village Clerk not be able to attend a meeting, the person substituting for the Clerk at said meeting for the purpose of taking official minutes shall be compensated one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) per meeting.
   D.   Annual Cost Of Serving Adjustment: Commencing on May 1, 2010, and on May 1 annually thereafter, the compensation set forth in this section shall be adjusted based upon the consumer price index established by the U.S. Department of Labor for Chicago-Gary-Kenosha on the first business day of each year.
   E.   Retirement Compensation: The elected officials may elect to participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund as adopted by resolution.
   F.   Effect Of Provisions: The compensation fixed by this section shall be effective as to each office on the first day of the term of that office when said term begins at least one hundred eighty (180) days hereafter. The compensation established by prior ordinances for each office shall continue until the compensation set forth in this section becomes effective as to that office. (Ord. 08-1509, 10-28-2008)
