(A) For the purpose of this section the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
"ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR." An electrical inspector appointed by the Mayor.
"ELECTRICAL WIRING AND EQUIPMENT." All installations of electrical conductors, fittings, devices and fixtures within or on public and private buildings within the city.
"STANDARDS OF SAFETY." The State Standards of Safety adopted by the city in § 150.01.
(B) No electrical wiring or equipment shall be installed within or in any building or structure or premises within the city, nor shall any alteration or addition be made in any such existing installations, without first securing a permit from the Electrical Inspector.
(C) During the installation of electrical wiring and equipment, the Electrical Inspector shall make inspections to insure compliance with the Standards of Safety. No work in connection with electrical wiring or equipment shall be covered or concealed until it has been inspected and permission to cover the work has been granted by the Electrical Inspector. On completion of the work, the Electrical Inspection shall inspect the work to ascertain compliance with the Standards of Safety.
(D) No person shall use or permit the use of, or supply current for, electrical wiring or equipment for heating, light, or power in any building or structure or premises within the city unless a certificate of inspection certifying that the electrical wiring and equipment complies with the Standards of Safety has been issued by the Electrical Inspector.
(E) No permit or certificate shall be required for the execution and use of the following classes of work:
(1) Minor repair work, including the replacement of lamps or the connection of approved portable electrical devices to approved permanently installed receptacles.
(2) The installation, alteration, or repair of electrical devices for the operation of communications and signals or the transmission of intelligence by wire by public service agencies.
(3) The installation, alteration, or repair of electrical equipment of a power or public service company for its use in the generation, transmission, distribution, or metering of electricity.
(4) The installation of any temporary system required for the testing or servicing of electrical wiring or equipment.
(5) Any work begun before the enactment of this section.
(F) Each person installing, altering, or adding to any installation for which a permit or certificate is required by this section shall pay the following fees to the city by paying them to the Electrical Inspector as agent for the city:
(1) For each permit: $5.00.
(2) For each initial or rough inspection: $l.50 for each of the first three circuits, plus $l.00 for each of the next two circuits, plus $.50 for each additional circuit.
(3) For each final inspection:
(a) With respect to fixtures, $3.00 for the first 20 sockets and $.10 for each additional socket.
(b) With respect to each fixture outlet, $.10.
(c) With respect to each receptacle, $.10.
(d) With respect to motors and generators, $4.00 for the first motor or generator and $.75 for each additional motor or generator.
(e) With respect to each furnace, $3.00.
(f) With respect to each combination furnace and air conditioner, $5.00.
(g) With respect to switchboards or panel boards, $3.00 for each board.
(4) For each reinspection made necessary because of faulty construction, unfinished work or non-approved materials: $3.00.
