It shall be the duty of the city’s Legal Counsel to give advice to any police officers or firefighters relative to all matters pertaining to their benefits and obligations under the Pension and Welfare Plan. The city’s Legal Counsel shall further defend any police officers or firefighters in any action brought against them (unless said action is instituted by the city) under the Plan or bring any and all actions which he deems necessary and proper on their behalf under the Plan.
