§ 35.58 SICK LEAVE.
   (A)   In addition to the foregoing benefits, all police officers and firefighters are granted 15 days of sick leave per year which may be accumulated from year to year but which shall not exceed 45 days. However, the Council at its discretion may require a doctor’s certificate to support any and all claims. The Council shall, after a person has been on sick leave for a long time (as long as three days) require a doctor’s certificate in any event.
   (B)   On termination either voluntarily or involuntarily of a police officer or firefighter, that police officer or firefighter shall be entitled to a sum of money equal to one-third of any accumulated sick leave, the sum to be based on the proportionate amount that the one-third of the accumulated time would bear to his monthly or weekly salary.
