§ 33.58 OFF-DUTY WEAPON.
   Officers are strongly recommended but not mandated to carry a handgun while off duty. An officer who elects not to carry a handgun while off duty shall not be subjected to disciplinary action if an occasion should arise in which they could have taken police action if they were armed: except, off duty officers while operating a department vehicle shall be armed with an approved weapon.
