(A) The police force shall consist of a Chief of Police, and such other police officers as may be established by the city. The Chief of Police shall be appointed by the Mayor of the City of Shelbyville and may be replaced, without cause, by the Mayor, pursuant to KRS 83A.130(9).
(B) No person shall be eligible as a police officer of the city who is not, at the time of his appointment, able to read and write the English language intelligibly, at least 21 years of age, or who is not moral, sober, and sagacious, or who has been convicted of a felony.
