As used in this chapter, the following terms and their derivative shall have the following meanings unless the context clearly indicates that a different meaning is intended.
“BUILDING CONTRACTOR.” Any person required to obtain a City of Shelbyville Building Permit.
“BUILDING OFFICIAL.” Any authorized employee of Shelbyville Code Enforcement. The term, “BUILDING OFFICIAL” shall also be synonymous with the term “INSPECTOR” and “CODE OFFICIAL” as used herein.
“CODE ENFORCEMENT” and/or “DEPARTMENT.” The section of Shelbyville City Government that administers building construction licensing and identification; issues building and installation permits; conducts inspections, and collects administrative fees.
“CONTRACTOR AND LICENSEE.” Any person, firm, partnership, or corporation required to be identified in accordance with this chapter.
“DIRECTOR.” The Building Official or Chief Code Enforcement Officer.
“HVAC.” Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.
“IDENTIFIED CONTRACTORS.” A Contractor with the necessary documents and/or proof to be officially on file and does not require a demonstration of trade/professional competency.
“INSPECTOR.” Any inspector employed by Shelbyville Code Enforcement.
“LICENSE.” The holder has provided the required information and fulfills other prerequisites for the particular profession as required by this chapter.
“PERMIT.” The document issued by Code Enforcement that allows the applicant to proceed with the proposed work.
