Upon determining that there is probable cause that a juvenile is in violation of this curfew chapter, a police officer may obtain the information necessary to issue a citation to the juvenile's parent which shall inform the parent that there is probable cause to believe that a violation of this chapter has been committed and then either take the minor home or direct the minor to proceed immediately to his or her home.
