§ 91.078 KEY BOXES.
   Any new Class 1 structure that is protected by an
automatic sprinkler system or fire alarm system which sends a local or transmitted signal, and access to, or within such structure, or an area on that property is unduly difficult because of secure openings, and where immediate access is necessary for lifesaving or firefighting purposes or property preservation, the Fire Chief, or his or her designee (Fire Marshal, Fire Inspector), shall require a key box(s) or other rapid entry product to be installed in an approved location(s). The key box or rapid entry product manufacturer must be approved by the Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, Fire Inspector, or his or her designee. All newly constructed and remodeled Class 1 structures shall install a key box(s) in a location(s) approved by the Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, Fire Inspector, or his or her designee.
