(A) For the purposes of this chapter the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
BUILDING CODE. The Indiana Building Code found within 675 IAC 13.
CLASS 1 STRUCTURE. Has the meaning ascribed thereto in I.C. 22-12-1-4.
CLASS 2 STRUCTURE. Has the meaning ascribed thereto in I.C. 22-12-1-5.
COMMISSION. The Indiana Fire Prevention Building Safety Commission as established by I.C. 22-12-2-1.
CROWD MANAGER. Has the meaning ascribed thereto in 675 IAC 22-2.5.
CUT SHEET. Specification sheet that provides and describes the technical specifications of a particular product.
DIVISION OF FIRE AND BUILDING SAFETY. The Division of Fire and Building Safety of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security established pursuant to state law.
FIRE CHIEF. The chief officer of the Fire Department or Fire Territory serving the jurisdiction.
FIRE CODE. The Indiana Fire Code found within 675 IAC 22.
FIRE DEPARTMENT. Has the meaning ascribed thereto in I.C. 36-8-17-2.
FIRE INSPECTOR. An individual who conducts fire code inspections and applies codes and standards.
FIRE MARSHAL. A person designated to provide delivery, management, and/or administration of fire protection and life safety related codes and standards, investigations, education, and/or prevention services for local, county, state, provincial, federal, tribal, or private sector jurisdictions as adopted or determined by that entity.
FIRE PREVENTION DIVISION. The Fire Prevention Division established by this chapter for the Shelbyville Fire Department.
FUEL GAS CODE. The Indiana Fuel Gas Code found within 675 IAC 25.
GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE RULES. The General Administrative Rules of the Indiana Fire Prevention and Building and Safety Commission located at 675 IAC 12.
IAC. The Indiana Administrative Code.
I.C. The Indiana Code of the Indiana General Assembly.
INSPECTION. A visual inspection of a building, system, design, or installation, to verify that it meets the standards or the Fire Code, and/or is in acceptable operating condition and free of defects.
KEY BOX. Has the meaning ascribed thereto in 675 IAC 22.
MECHANICAL CODE. Indiana Mechanical Code found within 675 IAC 18.
NOTICE OF VIOLATION. A written notice issued by the Fire Department usually in the form of an inspection report listing violations.
OWNER. Has the meaning ascribed thereto in 675 IAC 22.
PERSON. Has the meaning ascribed thereto in I.C. 22-12-1-18.
QUALIFIED PERSON. A person who either holds current National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) certification in the fire protection system being installed, serviced, or repaired, or has successfully completed a course of instruction specific to the equipment being installed, serviced, or repaired. Such instruction shall have been approved by the manufacturer of the equipment or their authorized representative.
(B) Terms not defined. Where terms are not defined in this Fire Prevention Code and are defined in the General Administrative Rules, the Indiana Building Code, Indiana Fire Code, Indiana Mechanical Code, or Indiana Fuel Gas Code, such terms shall have the meanings ascribed to them as in those codes. Where terms are not defined through the methods authorized, such terms shall have ordinarily accepted meanings such as the context implies.
