It shall be unlawful to discharge any firearm, BB gun, pellet gun, slingshot, long bow, crossbow, or any other weapon projecting any lead or any missile within the corporate limits of the city. This section shall not be construed to prohibit any officer of the law from discharging a firearm in the performance of his or her duty. This section shall not be construed to prohibit any citizen from discharging a firearm when lawfully defending any person or property; nor to any legally established shooting gallery; nor to persons discharging weapons on property of which they are legally seized, if provisions are made so that the projected missile when fired will not ricochet or travel beyond the bounds of the person’s property.
