§ 35.068 BARGAINING; CONTRACT.
   (A)   The city, acting through its corporate authorities, shall meet and bargain in good faith with the exclusive representative for a meeting for collective bargaining purposes. The Mayor and three members of the City Council have the responsibility for the overall coordination of the corporate authorities who are the city bargaining team, including the designation of the spokesperson.
   (B)   The Mayor and Wage Committee shall meet with the City Council prior to negotiations to gain suggestions from the members of Council as to items to be considered at the bargaining table. The Mayor and Wage Committee shall inform the City Council at regular intervals of the progress of negotiations.
   (C)   An agreement resulting from negotiations shall be reduced to a written contract. This contract shall be ratified by resolution of the legislative body of the city. The City Council shall appropriate the monies necessary to fund the cost items contained in any contract which it ratifies. Nothing in this subchapter prevents the use of multi-year contracts. However, contracts may not exceed the length of the term of the Mayor, plus one year.
