(A) Policy.
(1) Nonprobationary full-time employees wishing to attend to personal business or to observe a religious holiday not recognized by the city, may be granted a personal affairs leave with pay.
(2) All requests for personal affairs leave must be approved in advance by the employee’s department head.
(3) Department heads are authorized to deny these requests when there is evidence the absence will put an undue hardship upon the operations of the department.
(B) Full-time employees shall earn one personal day for each four months of completed service.
(C) Personal leave may be accumulated from year to year. Employees may not maintain an accumulated balance of over six personal days.
(D) Employees will not be paid for any unused personal days upon separation of employment.
