§ 35.014 OVERTIME AND CALL BACK PAY.
   (A)   Policy. All employees of the city may be requested to work overtime for reasonable periods.
   (B)   Determination of overtime. All work beyond 40 hours in any one workweek will be considered overtime. For the purposes of this section, work is to be defined to include all hours for which an employee receives pay: for example, vacation time, sick time, personal time, holiday hours, and the like, but specifically does not include compensatory time off. Hours worked by an employee in excess of his or her regular, established work schedule but less than 40 hours in any one workweek will not be treated as overtime.
   (C)   Overtime compensation.
      (1)   Hourly employees. The city shall pay all hourly employees at the rate of one and one-half times the hourly rate of pay for all hours worked. At the discretion of the department head, overtime pay can be given as compensatory time at the rate of one and one-half hour for each hour worked over 40 hours per week.
      (2)   Salaried employees. Salaried employees shall receive one and one-half hours for each hour of work over 40 hours per week. Salaried employees will not be allowed to accumulate over 240 hours of compensatory time. If, during that week, a salaried employee is away from the job because of a job-related injury, paid holiday, jury duty, vacation, paid sick time, and the like, those hours not worked will be counted as hours worked for the purpose of computing eligibility for compensatory time. Salaried employees will be required to keep a record of comp hours earned. The department head will monitor those hours to ensure that maximum comp hours are below 240 hours. At the time of termination of employment, employees will not be paid for any time over 240 comp hours.
      (3)   Department heads. Department heads are entitled to compensatory time off at the rate of one and one-half hours off per each hour worked over 40 hours per week. Department heads that work 35 hours per week earn comp time at straight time until they have reached 40 hours. Hours worked after 40 hours is earned at one and one-half hours of per hour worked. For the purpose of this section, HOURS WORKED will be construed as any hours for which a department head receives pay. Also for the purpose of this section, the following positions will be considered department heads: Chief of Police, Deputy Chief of Police, Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Personnel Director, Street Commissioner, Plan Commission Director, Parks and Recreation Director, Wastewater Treatment Superintendent, Public Utility Office Manager, Airport Manager, City Attorney, Redevelopment Director, MS4 Director, City Engineer. Department heads will not be allowed to accumulate over 240 hours of comp time. Department heads will provide the Mayor with a monthly time sheet showing accumulated comp hours to ensure that maximum comp hours earned are below 240 hours. At the time of termination of employment, department heads will not be paid for any time over 240 comp hours.
   (D)   Department heads. Department heads are expected to work overtime as reasonably needed without monetary compensation. Department heads will be entitled to earn compensatory time off as salaried employees.
   (E)   Call back pay. A minimum of two hours’ pay shall be allowed to any hourly employees when called back to work after being released from the regular day’s work.
   (F)   Longevity pay. The city agrees that full-time employees shall receive longevity pay in addition to base salary based upon the number of years of completed service as full-time city employee as described in the Step Plan.
