(A) Original hire date. An “original hire date” is the first day an employee reports to work with the city. An employee’s “original hire date” will always remain as this date regardless if there is a change in position classification.
(B) Anniversary date. An “anniversary date” is the date used to compute an employee’s seniority and various conditions and benefits described in employment policies and ordinances. Normally, an employee’s “original hire date” and “anniversary date” is the same. An anniversary date would not need to be adjusted for employees who transfer from one full-time position to another, without a break in service.
(C) Re-hire date. A “re-hire date” is the date an employee is re-employed, with the city, after a break in service. The “re-hire date” will serve as the employee’s new “anniversary date”.
