(A) (1) The corporate powers and duties of the village shall be vested in a Board of Trustees which shall consist of five members.
(2) At the first statewide general election held after the incorporation of the village, two Trustees shall be elected to serve two years and three Trustees shall be elected to serve four years. Thereafter, the Board members shall be elected as provided in the Election Act.
(3) The terms shall begin on the first regular meeting of the Board in December following the statewide general election.

(B) The members of the Board of Trustees shall be elected at the statewide general election as provided in division (A) above and each four years thereafter. Except as provided in division (A) above, the term of each Board member shall be four years or until his or her successor is elected and qualified.

(C) Any person may be a Trustee who is a citizen of the United States, resides in the village, and is a registered voter.

(D) Unless the village provides otherwise, members of the Board of Trustees shall be elected from the village at large on a nonpartisan ballot.
(E) The Board of Trustees shall determine whether the person meets all requirements before swearing in a Trustee.
