2-2-9: FUNDS FOR OPERATION:
   A.   Appropriation: After the city council has by ordinance created the city-county planning board, the city council may appropriate funds to carry out the duties of the planning board.
   B.   Tax Levy: The city may levy a tax upon the property located within such city not to exceed two (2) mills for planning board purposes under procedures set forth in Montana Code Annotated sections 7-6-4201 to 7-6-4203, provided such tax shall not exceed the maximum levy authorized in Montana Code Annotated sections 76-1-405 to 76-1-407.    C.   Gifts And Donations:
      1.   Power To Accept: The city-county planning board is empowered and given the right to accept, receive, take, hold, own and possess any gift, donation, grant, devise or bequest, or any property, real, personal or mixed, or any improved or unimproved park or playground, and utilize, hold or dispose of the same for planning purposes, not inconsistent with the provisions of this chapter.
      2.   Special Fund: Any money so accepted shall be deposited with the city in a special nonreverting planning board fund to be available for expenditures by the city-county planning board for the purpose designated by the donor. (1975 Code § 2.20.190)
      3.   Warrants: The disbursing officer of the city shall draw warrants against such special nonreverting fund only upon vouchers signed by the president and secretary of the city-county planning board.
      4.   Financial Aid: Upon approval of the city council, the city-county planning board may accept, receive and expend funds, grants and services from the federal government or its agencies and instrumentalities, from the state or local government, or its agencies and instrumentalities, or from civic sources and contact with respect thereto, and provide such information and reports as may be necessary to secure such financial aid.    D.   Expenditures: The city-county planning board shall have authority to expend, under regular city procedure as authorized by law, all sums appropriated to it for purposes and activities authorized by this chapter. (1975 Code § 2.20.180; amd. 2008 Code)
