§ 35.04  USE OF TOWN OWNED VEHICLES.
   (A)   Personal use of town owned vehicles, equipment, or supplies by any employee, individual or official is specifically forbidden.
   (B)   Vehicles owned by the town, including specialized vehicles and apparatus, are provided by the town for the use of town employees in connection with town business and services. When any such vehicle is not being used in the town’s business or services, it is to be kept at the town’s business premises or the town public works lot and building.
   (C)   No town owned vehicle (other than Police Department vehicles) shall be used by any town employee for commuting to and from work.
   (D)   No town owned vehicle shall be used by any town employee for personal business or personal errands either during working hours or non-working hours.
   (E)   When town employees are on call to return to work after regular hours or on weekends, the employee shall drive their personal vehicle from home to the town lot and pick up the town owned vehicle, respond to the site of the call, complete their work and return the town vehicle to the town lot and return home in their personal vehicle.
   (F)   When town employees are recalled from home after regular hours or on weekends, the town will reimburse employee in an amount equal to the amount allowed for tax deduction purposes by the IRS at the time such travel occurs.
   (G)   A town employee may use their personal vehicle for traveling on official town business such as seminars, training sessions, certification classes, schools and other town related business. Such travel in a personal vehicle shall be pre-approved by the Town Manager at least two weeks in advance of the proposed travel. When approved, the town employee will be reimbursed for travel in an amount equal to the amount allowed for tax deduction purposes by the IRS at the time such travel occurs.
   (H)   If the town maintains a general use vehicle (not a specialized service vehicle or police car) for use of town employees on town business, the Town Manager may make such vehicle available to a town employee for out of town travel on town business such as seminars, training sessions, certifications classes, schools, and other town related business. A log should be kept of the dates of use of such vehicle, the name of the employee using such vehicle, a brief description of the purpose of the use of such vehicle, and the total mileage traveled in the vehicle by such employee during such use.
   (I)   Use of Police Department vehicles for commuting to and from home to work or on call status shall at all times be controlled by separate ordinances and/or policies contained in Chapter 33 of Title III Administration Ordinances.
