§ 91.45  DESTRUCTION OR ADOPTION OF UNREDEEMED ANIMAL GENERALLY.
   (A)   If an impounded animal is not redeemed by the owner or keeper within the period prescribed in § 91.44, it may be destroyed in a humane manner or shall become the property of the animal shelter and offered for adoption to a responsible adult who is willing to comply with this subchapter and with policies promulgated by the Nash County Board of Health.
   (B)   No animal which has been impounded by reason of its being a stray, unclaimed by its owner or keeper, shall be allowed to be adopted from the animal shelter during a period of emergency rabies quarantine invoked pursuant to this subchapter, except by special authorization of the County Health Director.
