1422.02 MECHANICAL TRADES.
   (a)   No person shall carry on or work at the business of plumbing, house or building drainage, heating, sheet metal work, air conditioning or any kind of electrical work in the City until a certificate or license to engage in or work at such business is granted to such person by the Code Enforcement Office. Effective January 1, 2020 and continuing annually thereafter until further amended, such certificate or license fee shall be one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) at issuance.
   (b)   Every person with three years or more practical experience, engaged or engaging in the business or work of plumbing, house or building drainage, heating, sheet metal work, air conditioning or any kind of electrical work in the City, shall apply in writing to the Code Enforcement Office and if, after proper examination made by the Code Appeals Board of the City, such person so applying is found competent, such fact shall be certified to the Director of Code Programs, who shall thereupon issue a certificate or license to such person which shall, for the period of one calendar year or fractional part thereof after the date of such examination, entitle him to engage in or work at the business of plumbing, house or building drainage, heating, sheet metal work, air conditioning work or any kind of electrical work. The City Manager is hereby authorized to appoint a board of examiners, to consist of one member of the Board of Health, one code officer and two master craftsmen, in no way connected with the City government, who shall examine all applicants for a license under the provisions of this Chapter.
   (c)   Every registered master plumber, heater or electrician shall have a bona fide place of business in the City, or within a distance of three (3) miles from its nearest boundary, and shall display on the front of his place of business a sign reading as follows: “Registered Plumber, “ ”Registered Heater” or “Registered Electrician,” as the case may be, bearing the name or names of the person, firm or corporation, in letters not less than three (3) inches high.
   (d)   A re-examination will not be necessary for re-registration, unless the licensed master craftsman or journeyman fails to make application for re-registration at the specified time. The sum of one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) shall be paid by master craftsmen, firms or corporations, and the sum of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) by journeymen, for re-registration, which sum shall be paid into the City treasury, for their use.
