(a) The License Officer shall, within fifteen days after receipt of an application for a license as provided for in this chapter, cause such investigation to be made of the applicant and of the applicant's proposed operations as is necessary to determine compliance with requirements as set forth in Sections 820.06, 820.07 and 820.08.
(b) The License Officer shall issue a license for a specified ambulance, a specified ambulance service, or for specified drivers, attendant-drivers or attendants, when he or she has determined that all of the requirements of this chapter have been met. Such license shall be valid and effective for one year from the date of issuance unless earlier revoked, suspended or terminated pursuant to this chapter.
(c) Prior to the issuance of any licenses under this chapter, the License Officer shall cause to be inspected or verified, as the case may be, the vehicles, equipment, premises and personnel designated in each application under this chapter and shall certify his or her findings and approval in a written report to the Municipality when he or she finds compliance with the standards as set forth in this chapter.
(d) Subsequent to the issuance of any license under this chapter, the License Officer shall cause to be inspected or verified, as the case may be, each such licensed service, the vehicle and its equipment, the premises and personnel, whenever he or she deems such inspection to be necessary and not less frequently than twice each year. The required inspections shall be in addition to any other safety or motor vehicle inspections or any other inspections required to be made under general law or ordinances and shall not be deemed to excuse compliance with any other requirement of law or ordinance relative to the operation of motor vehicles, qualification of personnel or the maintenance of premises, nor shall it excuse noncompliance with the requirements of any other such applicable law or ordinance.
A copy of each initial, semiannual or other inspection report prepared by the License Officer shall be promptly transmitted to the Municipality and to the applicant or licensee to whom it refers.
