280.01 DEFINITIONS.
   As used in this chapter:
   (a)   "Employee" means any person employed by the City who receives compensation on a salaried or hourly basis, except that those employees whose incidents and conditions of employment are provided for by separate wage agreement shall be, to that extent, governed by the provisions of such agreements and not by the provisions of this chapter.
   (b)   "One year" means a period of fifty-two weeks or 2,080 hours, whichever is less.
   (c)   "One week" means a period of seven days or forty hours, whichever is less.
   (d)   "Department head" means the City Manager or anyone appointed by him, with the advice and consent of Council, to direct a department.
   (e)   "Compensation" means, in the case of an hourly employee, his hourly wage rate. In the case of a salaried employee, it means his average weekly wage based on the last six months of employment.
