§ 71.140 COMMERCIAL VEHICLE DEFINED.
   For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definition shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   COMMERCIAL VEHICLE. Any vehicle other than a passenger car which is operated for compensation or which is owned or operated by a private carrier for the transportation of property of which that person is the owner or bailee when that transportation is for the purpose of sale, lease, rent, or bailment, or in the furtherance of any commercial enterprise.
