Any person causing damage to any sidewalk, curb, gutter, street, alley, or any other public way of any type shall be held responsible in law therefor irrespective of whether the use thereof was lawful or unlawful, and without further regard to whether the use thereof was in accord with a permit duly issued as herein provided.
