Whenever any motor vehicle is disabled upon any street or highway, the driver, or other person in attendance of the vehicle, or both, shall immediately place on the traffic side of the disabled vehicle, so as to give warning of danger, a lighted red electric lantern, or a red emergency reflector, or, during the time of day when lights are not required, red flags. If the vehicle contains explosives, combustible liquid or gas, no signal producing a flame or arc shall be used.
