Any person, firm or corporation desiring to purchase gas from the town and desiring gas service from the town’s gas system shall make a gas service deposit of $250 for renters and $150 for homeowners as security for payment of charges for gas service and other charges related thereto which may become overdue. Any or the entire amount deposited may be applied by the town for the payment of such charges. Any of the amount deposited which remains to the credit of the customer, less any amount owed by him or her to the town, shall be refunded to him or her when gas service is discontinued.
