(A) All officers, employees, and members of the City Police Department shall retire and terminate employment with the city as officers, employees, or members of the City Police Department on the first day of the month following the attainment of age 62 years, except that the officers, employees, and members over the age of 62 years on January 1, 1984, shall retire on the July 1, 1984.
(B) The provisions of this section shall not apply to radio dispatchers and clerical employees of the City Police Department.
(C) Pursuant to KRS 61.592 et seq., the positions affected by this section shall be considered “hazardous positions”, effective January 1, 1984 for the purpose of the city’s participation in the Commonwealth County Employees Retirement System.
