For new construction, building permit fees shall be determined by the most recent building permit fee schedule. There will be certain flat rate fees including but not limited to fence permit, siding permit and demolition permit. Building permit calculations shall be based upon the estimated project construction costs as determined by the building inspector using the most current fee schedule adopted by the governing body of the city, or such fees will be based upon the contractor's estimated cost, whichever is greater. All permit fees are calculated by using average building and construction rates per square foot or that amount determined by contractor's estimate, whichever is greater. The fee schedule may be amended by resolution by the governing body and the most recent adopted building permit fee schedule shall be on file at the office of the building inspector and municipal clerk.
