(A) Driveways across sidewalks or public property shall be constructed in compliance with the specifications adopted by the Village President and Board of Trustees.
(B) All driveways across sidewalks or public property shall be constructed in compliance with the following additional specifications.
(1) Residential Driveways:
(a) A residential driveway that provides access to a detached garage shall be no more than twelve feet (12') in width. A driveway apron, the width of the garage as measured from the garage walls, is permitted to extend for a distance (depth) of thirty feet (30') from the garage doors before tapering back to the required driveway width to allow access to the additional spaces. See Figure 1: "Detached Driveway Width" of this section. No driveway apron shall exceed twelve feet (12') in width at its point of connection to the residential driveway or sidewalk.

(b) A residential driveway that provides access to an attached garage shall be no wider than the width of the garage. See Figure 2: "Attached Driveway Width" of this section. No driveway apron shall be wider than the width of the driveway, where the driveway apron connects to a residential driveway or sidewalk.

(c) A residential driveway must either lead to a garage or an unenclosed parking pad in the rear of a lot. In cases where an unenclosed parking pad is located in the rear of a lot, a driveway may lead to the rear of a lot to access that unenclosed parking pad. In such cases, the driveway and driveway apron width must comply with subsection (B)(1)(a) of this section.
(2) Nonresidential Driveways: Except for access to loading berths, no driveway across any sidewalk or public property shall have a width exceeding thirty-five feet (35').
