§ 30.052 DEPUTY CLERK.
   (A)   Created. There hereby is created the office of Deputy Clerk. The Village Clerk is authorized to appoint a Deputy Clerk with the advice and consent of the President and Board of Trustees, which Deputy Clerk shall have the power and duty to execute all documents required by law or ordinance to be executed by the Village Clerk and affix the seal of the Village thereto, whenever required.
   (B)   Manner of signature. When signing any document, the Deputy Clerk shall sign the name of the Village Clerk, followed by the word “by” and the Deputy Clerk's own name and the words “Deputy Clerk.”
   (C)   Powers and duties. The powers and duties described in this subchapter for the Clerk shall be exercised by the Deputy Clerk only in the absence of the Village Clerk from his or her office in the Village Hall, and only when either written direction has been given by the Village Clerk to exercise that power or the Board of Trustees has determined by resolution that the Village Clerk temporarily or permanently is incapacitated to perform the function. The Deputy Clerk shall have the authority and powers herein described and the further power and authority as may be provided by statute.
   (D)   Compensation. The Deputy Clerk shall receive compensation in the amount and manner as the President and Board of Trustees shall fix from time to time in the annual budget.
