§ 116.019 APPROVAL OF CONSTRUCTION PLANS.
   (A)   When a food establishment is constructed, altered, or remodeled or when an existing structure is converted for use as a food establishment, four (4) copies of properly prepared plans and specifications for construction, remodeling, alteration, or conversion, showing the proposed layout; the arrangement and construction material of work areas; the location, size and type of fixed equipment and facilities; the intended menu; the anticipated volume of food to be stored, prepared, and sold or served; mechanical plans; the schedule for completing the construction, alteration, remodeling, or conversion; and the name and model number of equipment shall be submitted to the Regulatory Authority for review and approval before the construction, altering, remodeling, or conversion is begun. All newly constructed or remodeled food establishments, including mobile food establishments, shall conform in their construction to the requirements of this chapter.
   (B)   All equipment installed pursuant to this chapter shall be listed by the National Sanitation Foundation in the annual listing of Food Service Equipment or meet equivalent standards. The Regulatory Authority shall review the plans and if they conform to the sanitation and construction equivalents of this code, it shall approve them and return one (1) copy thereof with its approval written thereon. The Regulatory Authority shall retain the other copies for its files and records.
   (C)   If the Regulatory Authority finds the plans do not conform to the sanitation and construction requirements of this code of ordinances, it shall provide a plan review letter that notes the plans' deficiencies to the person that submitted the plans by regular mail or electronic transmission. Upon receipt of said plan review letter, the recipient may submit revised plans to the Regulatory Authority for review and approval.
   (D) When plans and specifications have been approved by the Regulatory Authority, it shall cause to have made the inspections as may be necessary before the start of operations to determine compliance with the approved plans and specifications and with the requirements of this code of ordinances.
