There is established hereby the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, which shall operate under the supervision of the Department Chief. The Bureau shall consist of the EMS Coordinator, which shall be a licensed paramedic and sworn officer with the rank no lower than that of lieutenant, as well as other regular firefighter/paramedic personnel and civilian paramedic personnel all of which personnel shall have been specifically trained in emergency cardiac and non-cardiac care in a training program approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health and certified thereby to render emergency medical services at the level of emergency technician-paramedic—in such number as the President and Board of Trustees may provide salaries from time to time.
(A) The Chief of the Fire Department shall appoint the EMS Coordinator with the approval and consent of the Village President and Board of Trustees.
(B) The duties of the EMS Coordinator shall be as specified in the rules and regulations of the Fire Department.
