Wet detention basins shall be designed to remove stormwater pollutants, to be safe, and as much as feasible, to be available for recreational use.
(A) Depths. Wet basins shall be at least eight feet deep (three feet if aerated), excluding near shore banks and safety ledges. If fish habitat is to be provided, the pond shall be at least ten feet deep over at least twenty-five percent (25%) of the bottom area to prevent winter freeze-out.
(B) Permanent Pool Volume. The permanent pool volume in a wet basin at normal depth shall be equal to, or greater than the runoff volume from its watershed for the 2-year event.
(C) Nuisance Control. Wet basins shall be designed in a manner which will reduce as much as practicable nuisance problems such as algae.
