For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
ROOMING HOUSE. Every dwelling house, rooming house, furnished room in a house, lodging house, boardinghouse, and any other similarly occupied building, structure or portion thereof kept, held or used, where sleeping or lodging is provided (or which is equipped to provide lodging) by pre-arrangement for a definite period for compensation for two or more persons, in contradistinction to hotels.
