4-6-4: PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
   A.   Hens may only be permitted and kept on single family residential parcels containing one primary detached residential structure.
   B.   The owner of the hens must occupy the premises for which the permit is issued.
   C.   The owner of the hens for which the permit is issued shall at all times be responsible for the containment and care of the hens and the condition of the coop and run.
   D.   The maximum amount of hens allowed to be kept on a property shall be four (4) hens.
   E.   The keeping of roosters is prohibited.
   F.   A coop for housing hens and a run for exercise shall be provided for the keeping of hens in accordance with the provisions of this chapter and all other Village regulations that may apply.
   G.   Adequate fresh feed and water shall be made available to hens at all times in a manner to prevent the water from freezing. Such feed and water shall be made unavailable to rodents and predators.
   H.   Hens shall be confined inside of a coop from sunset to sunrise each day to prevent attracting predators and to minimize noise.
   I.   All feed for hens shall be kept in a vermin proof and watertight container.
   J.   The coop and run shall be kept in a sanitary and odor free condition, including daily removal of feces and waste.
   K.   Feces, discarded feed and all other waste must be stored in a watertight, airtight, and vermin proof container until properly disposed.
   L.   All necessary steps shall be taken to prevent the attraction of predators, rodents, and the potential infestation of insects and/or parasites.
   M.   Any health inspector, Health Officer, animal control officer, or enforcing agent may order the removal of hens upon a determination that the hens pose a health risk.
   N.   At such time hens are no longer kept, all facilities and equipment including but not limited to the coop and run shall be removed from the property within thirty (30) days and the permit shall be deemed nonvalid by the enforcing agent. (Ord. 2018-002, 6-25-2018)
