4-2-8: OFFENSES INVOLVING PROPERTY:
   A.   Deposit Of Refuse On Public Ways: It shall be unlawful for any person to cast, throw or deposit ashes, dirt, waste or byproduct of a process, rubbish or refuse matter of any kind upon the streets and alleys or into the gutters and ditches of the village. Any person violating this subsection shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code for each and every offense. (Ord. 137, 6-27-1932; amd. 2009 Code)
   B.   Damage To Public Property: No person shall negligently or wilfully injure, destroy, or deface any bridge, railing, crossing, sidewalk, streetlight, light pole or other property of the village.
   C.   Throwing Missiles: No person shall throw or cast any stone or other missile upon or at any building, tree, or other public or private property or upon any person in any street, alley, lane, public place, or enclosed or semienclosed ground in the village, or shall aid or abet in the same.    D.   Driving Or Riding On Sidewalks: No person shall ride or drive upon any sidewalk of the village any vehicle or animal, whether attached or not attached to any vehicle, in such a manner as to damage such sidewalk. (Ord. 53, 10-12-1896; amd. 2009 Code)
   E.   Obstructing Public Ways:
      1.   No person shall encumber or obstruct any street, alley or sidewalk with building material or any article or thing whatsoever without first having obtained the written permission of the village board of trustees, nor shall any person, except in case of urgent necessity and for a short time, encumber or obstruct more than one-third (1/3) of any street or alley or one-half (1/2) of any sidewalk.       2.   No person shall suffer the sidewalk in front of or adjoining the premises owned or occupied by him or her to become obstructed with trash, dirt or weeds. (Ord. 22, 9-11-1885)
   F.   Excavations: No person shall injure or tear up any pavement side or crosswalk, or any part thereof, or dig any holes, ditches or drains in, or remove any sod, stone, earth, sand, or gravel from, any street, alley, or public grounds of the village without having first obtained the written permission from the village president and/or the village board of trustees. Whoever shall violate this subsection shall be fined as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code. (Ord. 45, 8-28-1893; amd. 2009 Code)
